Point of Care Respiratory
Clearview RSV

CLIA WaivedClearview RSV is a simple, immunochromatographic assay to aid in the diagnosis of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in children less than 6 years and adults over age 60.

Clearly different

Clearview RSV provides a simple, rapid method for the diagnosis of RSV.

  • Fast: results are available in just 15 minutes
  • Easy: requires no hands-on time
  • Reliable: provides highly accurate results and includes built-in control
  • Flexible: can be used with either nasal wash or nasopharyngeal (NP) swab samples

Clearly better

The rapid, accurate results provided by Clearview RSV enable fast, informed treatment decisions that can result in improved patient care.

  • Critical care instructions can be provided to patients prior to the child leaving the pediatrician's office
  • Valuable information can be obtained prior to hospital admission to help control the spread of RSV infections
  • Reduces the risk of more serious illness in elderly patients

Clearview RSV Testing Procedure

Test Procedure

Gently agitate the nasal swab or aspirate sample. For swab sample, roll the swab against the inside of the transport tube or specimen container as you remove it and discard the used swab.

Interpretation

Fill the disposable pipette to the second notch (160 µL) with the nasal swab solution or nasal aspirate and add entire contents to extraction tube.

Add 4 free-falling drops of R1 to the extraction tube while holding the bottle vertically over the tube and gently swirl the extraction tube to mix the sample and R1.

Draw entire contents of the extraction tube up into a clean disposable pipette and squeeze the entire contents onto the sample well of the test device.

The test results should be read between 15 and 25 minutes after applying the extracted sample to the test device. For full instructions, see package insert.

About RSV

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of upper and lower respiratory tract infections and the major cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and children. Infections and outbreaks due to RSV typically occur yearly in the fall, winter, and spring. While RSV can cause significant respiratory illness in older children and adults, the disease tends to be milder in these populations than in infants and young children.

Rapid identification and diagnosis of RSV has become more important due to the availability of effective antimicrobial therapy. Rapid identification can lead to reductions in hospital stays, antimicrobial use, and the cost of hospital care.1
