Detection of GDH and Toxins A & B

The Inverness Medical C. DIFF QUIK CHEK COMPLETE® provides a method to simultaneously detect C. difficile common antigen, glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), as a screen for the presence of C.difficile and confirms the presence of toxigenic C.difficile by detecting toxins A and B which are the cause of disease, in a fecal sample on a single membrane device. The method allows for increased sensitivity (when compared to other test methods such as cytotoxicity testing) and has the ability to exclude more than 90% of samples submitted for C.difficile testing with >98% certainty due to the high predictive negative value. As a result, infected patients can be identified rapidly and accurately to improve both infection control and patient outcomes. This collection of information provides evidence that testing for toxins alone may be lacking in sensitivity in some immunoassay procedures.
