The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Test System* is a multiplexed, fluorescent, bead-based system designed to simultaneously perform multiple assays from a single sample all in one well. It offers a simple and streamlined alternative to IFA and ELISA testing, providing improved clinical sensitivity and comparable clinical specificity in a labor-saving, automation-friendly format. The AtheNA assay protocol features only two 30-minute incubations with windows of +/- 10 minutes. Customized software has been designed for easy data reduction, concise specimen reports and user-friendly data management applications.

AtheNA autoimmune disease systems available today include the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® ANA Test System, which simultaneously performs ANA screening and reflex testing for 9 specific auto-antibodies (SSA, SSB, Sm, RNP, Scl-70, Jo-1, dsDNA, Centromere B and Histone) in a single well, the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® ANCA Test System, the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Rheumatoid Factor Test System, and the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® TPO/Tg Test System.

AtheNA technology is not limited to autoimmune testing. Its multiplexing capability promises to revolutionize other areas of diagnostic testing as well. Virtually any assay that can be performed in an ELISA microtiter format can be adapted to the AtheNA platform. For instance, in the area of infectious disease testing, Inverness Medical Professional Diagnostics offers the AthenNA Multi-Lyte® EBV IgG Test System and the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® EBV VCA IgM Test System. Several additional infectious disease applications including ToRCH, HSV 1 & 2 and MMRV are currently under development.

*All AtheNA Multi-Lyte® serological assays have been developed and are manufactured by Zeus Scientific, Inc., and are marketed exclusively by Inverness Medical Professional Diagnostics, a member of the Inverness Medical family. Each is composed of a bench-top flow analyzer and differentially dyed and distinguishable microspheres developed by the Luminex Corporation.
